A couple of years ago, Clan Logan Society Genealogist Sean Logan introduced members to a new benefit through his Genealogist's Corner articles: personalized genealogy assistance and Deep Dive family history projects. Since then, the program has continued to grow. What began as a single effort has expanded into an active Genealogy Team with the addition of Genealogist Marlee Logan, allowing us to help even more members preserve and document their Logan family history.
One of the longstanding benefits of membership in Clan Logan Society International is access to our genealogy resources and research assistance. Whether you are just beginning your Scottish ancestry journey or have been researching your Logan line for years, these resources are designed to help you continue building your family history and preserving your Logan heritage.
Clan Logan History and Genealogy
The Our Family History page serves as the starting point for members interested in learning more about the history of the Logan name.
Here, you can discover information about our Chiefs, the ancient Logan families, and the historical branches of the Logan name, along with our genealogy resources.
Deep Dive Family History Projects
Members of Clan Logan Society International may request a Deep Dive into their Logan family history. These projects generally require four to six weeks of research and are designed to evaluate existing information, confirm documented relationships, identify possible errors, and suggest future research opportunities.
Each completed Deep Dive includes:
A fully documented narrative family history.
Historical context showing how world events affected your ancestors.
Timelines that place family events in chronological order.
Complete source citations that show where the information came from and help future researchers locate the original records.
A confidence scale explaining the strength of the evidence supporting each generation and conclusion.
Tailored suggestions for additional research when needed.
Integration of your narrative and documented Logan line into our members-only Our Family History database.
Creation or enhancement of your family's profiles on WikiTree to help preserve your research for future generations.
Full access to both Our Family History and WikiTree so you can continue expanding your research.

One example comes from the family of Tarlton Logan and Jane Hood.
After settling in Greene County, Missouri, the couple welcomed twins in 1839, including William Hood Logan, the ancestor of one of our members. Like many families of the period, the Logans farmed and raised their families in relative peace until the Civil War changed everything.
In 1862, Tarlton and six of his sons entered Union service. During the Battle of Pea Ridge in Arkansas, several members of the family were wounded. William, James, and Wesley Logan were all injured, and Wesley permanently lost his left arm. Stories like these remind us that genealogy is about much more than names and dates. It is about understanding the lives our ancestors lived.
Our Family History
To support these projects, the Society maintains Our Family History, a members-only Logan family tree and research database built using TNG (The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding).
This growing resource allows members to search documented Logan lines, view timelines, and explore the research completed by the Genealogy Team and participating members.

Preserving Our Logan Legacy
Genealogy is not simply about collecting names. It is about preserving our Logan heritage, understanding where we came from, and ensuring that future generations have access to the stories that might otherwise be lost.
If you are a member and you'd like to be added to our Deep Dive queue, simply email genealogy@clanlogansociety.org.
We'd love to help you uncover and preserve your family's Logan story.
