If you have the Logan surname in your family tree or an interest in Logan heritage, you may have come across Clan Logan Society International and wondered exactly what it is.

Clan Logan Society International (CLSI) is the official worldwide organization dedicated to preserving the history, heritage, and future of the Logan family. Members come from many countries and share a common goal of celebrating their heritage while helping preserve it for future generations.

Clan Logan crest featuring a red heart pierced by a dagger within a circular belt and buckle bearing the motto "Hoc Majorum Virtus." The crest is topped by a rolled parchment and includes red and gold twisted cord details with a yellow buckle at the base. The design symbolizes the heritage and traditions of Clan Logan.

A Worldwide Community of Logans

Clan Logan Society International brings together descendants and friends of the Logan family from around the world. Members include experienced genealogists, first-time family historians, and people who simply want to learn more about their family history.

The Society provides opportunities to:

  • connect with fellow Logans worldwide

  • share family history discoveries

  • learn about Logan history and traditions

  • participate in educational programs and presentations

  • attend Highland Games and Scottish festivals

  • support important heritage projects

  • preserve records and stories for future generations

Finding the Clan Chief

One of the Society's most important missions is to support the search for the Chief of the Name and Arms of Logan and restore the traditional leadership of the clan.

In Scotland, a Clan Chief is not elected by a society or chosen by popular vote. A Chief is recognized through Scottish heraldic law by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, the official authority responsible for matters relating to coats of arms and clan chiefships. A chief is recognized as the head of the name and arms of the family.

When a chiefship has been dormant for generations, historical and genealogical evidence must be carefully gathered and evaluated to identify the rightful heir. This process can take many years and often involves extensive research into family records, legal documents, and lines of descent.

Clan Logan Society International supports this work through its Chief Restoration Project. The Society encourages research, preserves historical records, and works to ensure that future generations of Logans may once again have a recognized Chief of the Name and Arms of Logan.

Current Leadership

Until a Chief of the Name and Arms of Logan is identified and recognized, Clan Logan Society International continues to be guided by its elected officers and directors.

The Society is currently led by President Tricia Logan, who is responsible for setting the organization's direction. Her leadership focuses on achieving the Society's goals, which include restoring the hereditary chief, tracing member genealogy, and enhancing the family's reputation.

The Commander, currently J. Kevin Logan, is the leader of the global Logan family, working to find the hereditary heir to the chiefship. In addition, the Commander holds an honorary position in the Society, overseeing its educational, historical, and heritage activities. While the Commander leads the global family, the position of Chief of the Name and Arms of Logan is currently vacant. It is important to note that the Commander does not serve as the Clan Chief; rather, they are the legally recognized leader of the family as commissioned by the Lord Lyon, while efforts are ongoing to restore traditional clan leadership.

Genealogy and Family History

Family history research is one of the Society's strongest areas of interest.

Members have access to educational resources, genealogy programs, and opportunities to learn from experienced researchers. Whether your ancestors came from Scotland, Ireland, or elsewhere, the Society encourages members to explore and document their own family stories.

You do not need to have completed your family tree before joining. Many members begin with only a few names and gradually build their research over time.

More Than a Family History Organization

While genealogy is important, Clan Logan Society International is also about friendship and community.

Members share stories, attend events, celebrate heritage, and enjoy meeting others who share an interest in the Logan name. New friendships often begin with a common surname and grow into lasting connections.

Who Can Join?

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in Clan Logan and Logan heritage.

You do not need to prove descent from a specific Logan line to become a member. Descendants, spouses, friends, and supporters are all welcome.
