Letter from the President James C. Logan, President

Hello CLS Members,

I have recently been diagnosed with cancer. Surgery is scheduled on 24 January 2022. Follow-up surgeries and chemo therapy are possible. I may be distracted for the next 2 to 3 months, or more, as I go through the process of testing, surgery, and follow-up treatments.

To ensure continuity of the Clan Logan Society International, I have asked our Vice President, Kevin Logan, to step in and take the leadership role as Interim President, effective immediately. This action is in accordance with our Constitution/Bylaws (Article VII, Para.7).

Additionally, I genuinely wish to ensure the long-term viability of the Society. During the treatment & recovery process, I do not know how incapacitated I may be, nor for how long I will be so. Therefore, I have asked Kevin to become the next Society President (per Article VII, para.7), with approval of the CLS Board. The Board will meet during the first quarter of 2022 to formally accept my resignation and recognize Kevin as CLS President, as may be necessary. We will not hold an election since we have not yet reached the 300-member threshold required by our Constitution/Bylaws (Article IX, para.1). We will follow the precedence set by my elevation to President in 2018 after Vernon Logan passed away.

I plan to remain on the Board as Chair of the Membership Committee, serving at the pleasure of our new President, and for as long as I can function in this reduced level of responsibility. As such I will be able to serve in an advisory capacity during the transition to a new President, and perhaps for some time into the future.

Sincerely,

James C. Logan

President
